The Sacramento Design Business Community, known as SDBC, brings local interior designers and design-industry professionals together to build stronger businesses, deepen industry relationships and grow alongside their peers.  We have meet monthly throughout the Sacramento area to learn from one another, build trusted industry relationships, and grow stronger businesses together.

You do not have to build your design business alone.

Running a creative business can be deeply rewarding, as we all know, but it can also feel isolating.  You may be navigating pricing, client expectations, vendors, contracts, marketing, difficult projects, or the constant challenge of balancing creativity with profitability.  SDBC gives you a place to talk about those challenges with people who understand them.

Our meetings are designed to be generous, practical, collaborative, and encouraging. Members share what is working, ask for help when something is not, and learn from professionals at different stages of business.

This is not a competitive room.

It is a community built around shared growth.

What happens at an SDBC gathering?

Our monthly meetings are hosted at different locations throughout the Sacramento area, giving members the opportunity to experience new showrooms, meet industry partners, and expand their local professional network.

Depending on the month, a gathering may include:

  • A presentation from a local vendor or industry expert
  • Education focused on the business of interior design
  • Conversations about best practices, systems, pricing, marketing, and client experience
  • Open discussion around current business challenges
  • Peer advice, shared resources, and thoughtful referrals
  • Group coaching and practical guidance
  • Time to build genuine relationships with other local design professionals

Every meeting is a little different, but the goal is always the same: to help Sacramento-area designers feel more connected, supported, informed, and confident in their businesses.

Who can attend?

SDBC is intended for interior designers and professionals who serve or support the local Sacramento design industry.

Do I need to own an established design firm?

No. Members are at many different stages of business. Emerging designers and career changers are welcome, as are experienced designers and established firm owners.

Where do meetings take place?

Meetings are hosted at rotating showrooms, studios, vendor locations, and other design-related spaces throughout the Sacramento region.

How often does SDBC meet?

The community typically gathers once a month, on the fourth Thursday evening of the month January through October.

Is there a membership fee?

There is no official membership or fees.  Occasionally you may be asked to contribute to the refreshments for our gathering.

Can vendors participate?

Select vendors and industry partners may host, present, sponsor, or attend gatherings when their participation provides value to the design community.
