Cozy Coastal Cottage

Summary:  This coastal cottage renovation began with a home that felt divided. The main living spaces were split into three separate areas. In addition, a large brick fireplace and several walls made the rooms feel closed off from one another.  Our client wanted a more open and connected home. Instead of separate rooms, she dreamed of one large great room. This new space would include the kitchen, dining room, and family room in one easy flow.

To make that vision possible, we reworked the layout. First, the living room fireplace was moved to a new location. Then, the kitchen changed from a galley-style layout to a more functional design with an island. As a result, the home now feels brighter, more open, and better suited for everyday living.  We also added a workstation in the kitchen. This created a practical place for home tasks, planning, and daily routines. Because of this thoughtful detail, the kitchen became both beautiful and highly functional.

Our client was drawn to a soft coastal color palette. Therefore, we selected finishes that felt fresh, light, and calming. These choices carried through the kitchen, family room, and two renovated bathrooms.  New flooring and paint were also installed throughout the home. These updates helped create a cohesive backdrop for the full design. From there, we layered in furniture, window treatments, and accessories to complete the transformation.

Throughout the home, we included feminine touches that made the design feel personal. Sparkling tile, hints of pink, and furniture with graceful curves added softness and charm. At the same time, the overall design stayed polished, relaxed, and timeless.  In the end, this cozy coastal cottage became a warm and welcoming home. It now offers open-concept living, thoughtful function, and a soft coastal style designed for everyday luxury.
