After the initial consultation, we assess the best method to proceed on the project and sign a contract. We first define your budget for the project. Of course, this will vary based on the needs of the room, but the average remodel budget per room I suggest to my clients is $10,000-$20,000. A full kitchen remodel can cost $40,000 to $100,000 when new cabinets are involved. The budget will also depend on what is valuable to you. As quality goes up, so does the price. I can find an area rug for your room that is $500 and looks great; and another that is $5,000 that looks just as good or better and will most likely last many years longer.
For smaller projects that may require only a few hours of consultation for furniture arrangement or paint colors, I recommend proceeding on an hourly basis. The current hourly rate is $95.00. With this approach, you can control how much I am involved in the project. This is a great solution for clients who like to do some of the "leg work" themselves.
Other (and in fact, most) projects will go through the Design Concept Package route. I charge a "per room" fee for this package, which has a 2-3 weeks turn around. The package includes measuring, drafting a floor plan, furniture layout, paint colors as needed, window treatment design as needed, new furniture specifications, finish selections, and any other details that room requires. Typically, I will meet with you half way through the process of developing the design concept to make sure we are all on the same page. I will create a Design Concept Binder for your project that you will keep and will receive at the formal presentation. The formal presentation is the unveiling of your project. I will have a hand-drawn sketch on a design board with any fabrics swatches, flooring samples, colors and specifics to your project and walk you through the information in your binder. I will also have an exact budget for your project and pricing on all specified items ready to go upon client approval.
Step 3: Design Implementation
When you have completed the Design Concept phase and are ready to move forward, I will ask for a 50% deposit on anything purchased by, and through, Rebecca Ward Design. Furniture typically takes 8-10 weeks to deliver. At this time, we will also secure the right contractor or subcontractor as needed for implementing the design. I have a "team" of contractors I typically use and recommend, but we can also get bids from other sources. Any hours that I spend at the site meeting with subcontractors or time spent on designing outside the original project scope and design concept I will bill at an hourly rate. A detailed invoice of the hourly time will be sent monthly.

Step 4: Installation
Installation day is an exciting day. I typically try to coordinate everything to arrive on the same day so there is a big "reveal". Because this day requires such great coordination and focus, I charge a higher hourly rate for time spent on this day. This includes accessorizing and staging new and existing items.
Now it's time to enjoy your newly designed home that has every detailed designed with you in mind!
I look forward to hearing from you and getting started on your project! All project sizes and design styles are accepted by Rebecca Ward Design.
